George Anastaplo’s Potential Obituaries

George Anastaplo has identified two obituaries that he “can live with.” One, for the academic world, is found in the opening lines of an “Opus Publicum” essay by “Modestinus” (whoever he may be) posted on this website (on July 20, 2012). The other, for the community at large, is found in the comment by a Michigan Avenue magician posted on this website (on August 22, 2012). Then, as “back-ups,” there are the judicial opinions by Justice George W. Bristow, 18 I11.2d 182, 201-24 (1959), and Justice Hugo L. Black, 366 U.S. 82, 97-110 (1961) (both, of course, in dissent).
