 A letter of January 8, 2013
To
John Kass, Columnist
The Chicago Tribune:

It would be refreshing, considering your frequently-voiced suspicion of Chicago politicians, if you could recognize in your remarkable column the career of our fellow Greek-American, Nicholas J. Melas, whose half-century of public service included thirty years on the Board of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago. Particularly to be appreciated by you is the fact that Mr. Melas, upon retiring from public service, has had to keep working in order to support his family. In short, he certainly did not leave public service a wealthy man.
